Under the wing of her manager/producer/husband, Phil Elverum, up and coming French-Canadian experimental folk artist WOELV (real name Genevieve Castree) has announced her first major tour, stopping off in Massachusetts before jumping the pond for a month-long European low-fi extravaganza.
Oh, and Mount Eerie decided to come along for the ride as well.
Fans of Elverum’s previous efforts (Eerie, The Microphones) have already been familiarized with WOELV’s work in paint and charcoal, which can be spotted on many of her hubby’s releases, most recently in the form of a colossal wall-sized poster which accompanied the vinyl release of 2005’s “No Flashlight”.
The tour comes hot on the heels of Castree’s much-abuzzed (and Elverum-produced) debut E.P., “Gris,” put out last month by K Records.
