Chicago is home to some heavyweight music festivals this summer: Intonation, Pitchfork Music Fest, and Lollapalooza. With these giants it is easy to overlook some smaller and possibly more worthwhile music and art celebrations. Some of the most celebrated of the midwest music undercurrent will gather in Chicago August 18-20 for 3 days of music and art. The goal of the event is to “acknowledge, celebrate and educate about people making meaningful things in small pockets of Midwestern America.” The tentative musical line up so far includes: Quiet Bears - The E R E - Best Friends Forever - Drakkar Sauna - Mt. Gigantic - Partisan - Mitre - Cains & Abels - AID - Erin Daisy - Manipulator Alligator - Trouble Books - Fred Thomas - Little Headhunter - Unicorn Basement - Shadowhappy - Your Loving Tiger - Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - The Impossible Shapes - The Casionauts - Emily Jane Powers - Poison Control Center - Candy Sweat - Heilgoats - Muschi - Totally Awesome - Real Live Tigers - Spoken word by Dan Soloman.
