C.H.U.D. is reporting that Darren Aronofsky’s latest effort “Fountain“, which was aired at the Venice Film Festival this weekend received boos by audience members. Though they report that this is not a problem with the film itself but more a slur on the mentalities of a few select patrons that lack courtesy and or taste.

From Indie Cult’s perspective, looking at the reviews and discussion so far, Fountain seems to split critics down the middle. It is all very beautiful but you either love it or hate it; like Marmite. Certain critics have classed the film as “a nice looking chick flick” (one that spans over 1000 years), which itself has riled writer Devin Faraci (of CHUD) into writing an angry retort.

Fountain is released across America on November 22nd and stars Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz. We will have to wait until then to make our own minds up. It also plays at the Toronto film festival on September 12th.

Aronofsky’s previous work includes cult favourites Pi and Requiem for a Dream. The trailer can be viewed here.
